Fifth Grade Recruitment
Congratulations to our students!
Both of our performing groups - 7th/8th mixed chorus and 6th treble chorus - received all superior ratings at our annual MPA choral festival at Jack Britt High School.
Thirty to forty schools in eastern North Carolina travel to the festival in order to be evaluated on two prepared pieces (by three judges) and their ability to sightread a rhythmic and a melodic exercise (one judge). All four judges gave our groups a superior rating - a score between 90 and 100.
I am thankful for the effort and seriousness the students have shown as we prepared. I hope that they feel a sense of accomplishment, and that they are a part of something that's important. They'll soon see a tangible testimony to their success as we'll receive a plaque for each group that will hang on the wall for future classes to admire.
Students will be traveling to Jack Britt High School on next Friday, March 20 for our annual choral festival performance. This is an "End of Course" exam of sorts for us, allowing the culmination of the things we've worked on in class to be put on display for experienced choral teachers to rate our performance. We are shooting for the highest possible rating - Superior! I am anxious for the students to do well, and I believe they are as well.
You will find the information letter and permission form for the trip below. Sixth graders travel after school, while seventh and eighth graders perform together during school hours.
